Peace Pole!

Bring your children to see the Peace Pole in front of the FVJN building. The Peace Pole has been installed as part of the international Peace Pole Project, and has on it words of peace in 8 Languages:  English, Hebrew, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Algonquin (Native American language indigenous to the area), and Swedish. The next closest Peace Pole in the Fox Valley area is located in front of the Congregational Church on LaFox Road.

We will have a dedication ceremony in September. Meanwhile, send your friends and family by to see it. For more information about the worldwide Peace Pole Project, see http://www.peacepoleproject.org/

Israel Solidarity Day

Israel Solidarity Day is a celebration marking Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day. This community-wide, family-friendly event features the Walk with Israel (a three-mile walkathon to raise funds for Israeli children), plus food and festivities for all ages. Israel Solidarity Day brings together Jews from across the Chicago area to stand with their community and support their Jewish homeland.

Volunteer, Volunteer, Volunteer!

We know that many of our members would like to get more involved with FVJN so we’d love to get a list of who might be interested in what! Specifically, we are looking for people who would like to help with the following:

• Playing music at the Shabbat evenings (kids and adults alike are welcome)
• Planning the upcoming Adult Purim Party
• Assisting with the upcoming Children’s Purim Carnival
• Assist with cleaning our space on a semi-regular basis

If you would like more information on any of the above or would just like to add your name to a general volunteers’ list, please email info@fvjn.org.
